We all have struggles, some in which we are ashamed of. In this walk in Christ, Jesus will h0ld you accountable. Jesus will tell you things about yourself, you didn’t even know was there. Not because He wants to humiliate you or write a status on social media about you but because He LOVES you. Jesus Loves His Children, just like any parent who loves their child.
As a parent you see your child’s shoe untied, our first reactions are to tell them to tie it. Sometimes they tie it no problem, sometimes they say, “I did tie my shoe” and look down just to realize their shoe has came undone. Don’t we do that as adults in Christ? We leave it at Jesus feet, we say Jesus I’m done smoking today and a month later; something triggers you to pick back up the cigarette again. And Jesus comes and says, “Your Shoe is untied”. Do not feel offended, nor worry about who came to deliver the message of God. Just remember, He Loves me. If He didn’t it, He could just let you fall. Maybe your struggles are not drugs, or smoking, whatever the struggle is. In Christ we can overcome it, we can be healed and set free. But we have to do our part, we have to show God we are willing. And be consistent.
Why do I use the metaphor shoes being untied? My oldest son is at the age that he knows how to tie his shoe. But like many of us, he has his struggles. He overthinks, anxiety, hyperactive. This day in particular, I told him to tie his shoe. He tied them, I watched him, and they came undone. I said, “tie your shoe”. Now most parents would have rush in and helped, but my body wouldn’t allow me to get up. He ties the shoe again, and I leave the room and come back. His shoes were untied. I said, “tie your shoe, they have come untied again”. “But mom I keep tying them, they keep coming undone, can you help”. I said “no”. Not because I did not want to help him, but I was trying to show him how to keep pushing even through our struggles.
His mind was somewhere else, and that’s why his shoe kept coming undone, but I wanted him to focus. It took him 8 tries before the shoes stayed tied long enough until we got to the car. When we got to our first stop of running errands, his shoe was untied again; and I helped him. Jesus wants to see what we can do, before He jumps in at times. That doesn’t mean He does not want to help us. But in those moments, of feeling like “I’m crying out, I’m asking for help, I keep messing up, he says “tie your shoe”. After he sees you done tried, and you are doing your part, He comes and he heals you from the struggle, delivers you from the struggle.
I was led to write this whole blog, mainly because I need to read it. But also, to help encourage someone else, who may be feeling like how I have been feeling. Stay consistent in trying, Jesus will come in! Stay committed to the walk, Jesus will never leave you. Do not leave Christ, because you couldn’t tie the shoe. Take accountability knowing that we all have struggles, there’s only one perfect person and that is God. It’s okay to struggle, it’s okay to be sat down by God. God is not sending His children out so they can fall flat on their face. I would not let my son leave the house until the shoes were tied. Be consistent, watch God work. I’m declaring healing over my life, and I pray you declare healing over yours.
Thank you for reading, Blessings.
