Ephesians 1:5 “having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,”
What is the true value of your life, your purpose? Do you feel you are here by coincidence? Life can take us through so many paths. God knows these paths before we even take them. A lot of times we get off track, we stray away from God. No matter how far we stray we still belong to Jesus. Jesus has adopted us; he has already set us apart. In Christ we have many different assignments over our lives. There is so much work to be done in the Kingdom of God.
As we look at Ephesians 1:5, the word predestinated stands out to me. This word means that something was already ordain beforehand. When we came into Christ Jesus already had an order in place for each of our lives. He already had something plan beforehand. He had a plan for our lives that is for the good of his will, and because is good for his will it is good for us. Jesus knows all the things that we have went through, all the things we have had to endure and sometime having to continuously endure.
We are not here by coincidence, the things we had to go through was not a coincidence. Our lives in Christ have a purpose, each one uniquely different from each other. A person who has been in prison and may get out of prison and now be a preacher, now his purpose is to minister to young people on the streets. Someone could have been a drug addict and had so many mental disorders and could actually become a Prophet/ Prophetess. God has a purpose for your life in him.
Look at the story of Saul for example. A man killing followers/believers of Jesus, and then he becomes a follower and believer of Jesus. God will take your bad, your bad decisions and mistakes. He will take them and love you pass your flaws; he will take those bad decisions and mistakes and still be able to use you for his good. Why? Because you were already adopted by Jesus Christ, and he already had a plan.
If we look at Jeremiah 1:5 it reads “Before I formed thee in the belly, I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet”. God is speaking to the Prophet Jeremiah, and he is telling him, before you even were in your mother’s womb, I know thee. He knew us before we enter into our mother’s womb, and he already ordained us while we were still with him in heaven. We had assignments on our lives. He could have ordained some of us to be preachers, ministers, prophets, deacons, teachers, dream interpreters. The predestination he has over our lives is amazing.
For those of you who are saying “There’s nothing special about me, I am just here”. In Christ there in something special about you. Something you would have never imagine. You would be amazed at what God has for you. ” God, how can I own a church when I was a non-believer 5 years ago?” Or God, how can I be ministering, when I was just in the streets 10 years ago?” In Christ we are new creatures, the old is washed away.
I encourage you to ask God to reveal to you who you are in Christ, and start claiming that identity given to you, and to always remember your life is predestinated by Jesus Christ for the good of his will, and because he is good the plan, he has on your life is also good.
